Evin Galang spent her early years trying to figure out just where she belonged in the performing arts. After moving to Chicago, she found Lindy Hop in 1997 and realized she was finally home. Evin performed in Chicago with the troupe Big City Swing and Forklift Productions doing a combination of Lindy Hop, Jazz and Modern dance. In 1999 Evin taught at the first Lindy Hop workshop in Atlanta, A Natural Ball, and back home in Chicago formed the dance company Blue Moon Groove, one of Chicago's most influential Lindy Hop instruction outfits. Over the years, Evin has been fortunate enough to have toured the US and Europe giving Lindy Hop and Blues Dance workshops, performances and serving as a competition judge. With her partner, Andrew Twiss, she has placed 1st through 4th at the Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown, the American Lindy Hop Championships, the North Atlantic Dance Championships and many other competitions. Evin likes dancing. A lot. What she likes best after dancing, though, is helping folks unlock their inner dance star. Whether working with beginners or advanced dancers, Evin's use of humor, ease of communication and ability to "speak your learning language," makes classes with her fun, informative and practical.
Evin moved to the ATL in late 2007 and now that she's all settled in is excited to be teaching with Down South Swing. When not dancing, Evin is hangin' with her homie, 2-year-old Kesiah and her main squeeze, computer nerd Noah. Together they love to cook, eat, finger paint, listen to good music and jump around like crazy monkeys.
